AWARD CEREMONY 2021-2022
In 2020, I participated and won an artist competition! I had the immense honor of having been chosen to create the award ceremony artwork for the Jeannine WARCOLLIER prize of the “Chemins de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle” association.
Here is my creative process for creating this work: “This sphere symbolizes the international dimension of the association. A multitude of paths are materialized using bronze paving stones from the Alivon Factory. They bring light, and form groups of pilgrims walking towards Santiago de Compostela guided by the shells but also symbolically by the light. These paving stones also recall the stages of the journey towards the holy city. The walker with his pilgrim’s staff is guided by the shell and the light it reflects. The ball sits on its support like a trophy, and recalls the Parisian Jacquaire monument “La Tour Saint-Jacques”. This giant ball in Yakiusugi – a Japanese burnt wood technique – reveals the beauty of raw materials: the veins of the Linden and the shine of the Bronze. ” So, what do you think? To create this work, I pushed my limits. Exploring new materials. It is the materialization of the creative path that led me to go beyond what I imagined in this project. Art connects to people in different ways, because it is interpreted differently by each person. It is this plural reading of the works in my collection that makes it rich, and drives me.
