Golden films

Hot stamping foils, sometimes called “OESER” after a company that no longer exists, can be used both manually and by machine. Their range of use goes from 95° to 120°.

Machine work requires only a few adjustment tests. Working by hand will require heat control. Marking control is defined by three elements: temperature, pressure and pressure duration. It is the combination of these three factors that creates the most beautiful gilding.

P 65″ film – real 22-carat gold – is the film most commonly used by hand bookbinders. It requires a “normal” temperature, but its pressure must be firm, almost like that of a machine, and not changeable. In a way, you need to have defined the process beforehand.

The ‘A 77’ film – real 22-carat gold – was designed for leather goods and can handle difficult skins. The colour is slightly paler than P65 film. Hand gilders who have to deal with “special” skins love it.

M 83″ film – real 22-carat gold – has a “darker gold” finish that is less yellow than the others, making it versatile. Hand-machine, all-purpose.

B 55″ film – 22-carat real gold – has a very shiny appearance and is recommended for packaging, printing and cosmetics.

J 10″ film is real rose gold, used mainly in the luxury goods industry for cases, dials, watch straps and personalisation.
